Certainly, the Kyle Tucker trade was a big move in this off-season, showing the way the team might be headed. But for some of us that trade signaled that the Astros could be clearing up the payroll to allow them to re-sign Alex Bregman.

A couple weeks ago, I asked for suggestions for off-season content and received a great suggestion from a friend of the blog, Steven. He suggested we take a deep dive into the Astros position by position, looking at what was available at the MLB level and who might be only a step or two away.

Just kidding there….two things that make me chuckle are:

Sometimes around here, we look at a potential deal or investment by the Astros, and if it is costly, we say, “No big deal to us – that is Jim Crane’s money.”

Like many of my dear readers, I was astounded by the wonderful, inspired, and inspiring idea that MLB Commissioner shared with us this week.

Let’s face it, compared to playing regular season baseball games almost every day for six months, the off-season is a dead time. On top of this, if you cut the off-season into separate chunks – the period we are in right now – after the teams tendered / not-tendered their arbitration candidates to the end…
