World Series 2017: Game 7 live blog

Well, here it is. The game for all the marbles. The last game of the major league baseball season. The game that makes you gasp. The game that causes your heart to miss a beat. The game A.J. Hinch can’t miss on. The game that could define a generation of Astros’ teams. The game, well, you get it.

It’s an important game! Beyond important.

Lance McCullers Jr. will get the call to throw the first pitch, but you know he won’t throw the last and there could be a dozen guys on the hill tonight in Dodger Stadium.

It was enough that the Astros got to the World Series in 2005. It isn’t enough in 2017. Houston, we need a win! Houston, we need that trophy! Houston, we must have that banner!

And to know a little about World Series Game 7s? No problem, check it out here.

Need a little background on McCullers? Got that too!

Wondering about how that Sports Illustrated prediction came to be? It’s right here.

And, worry not, SI is standing by its prediction. Today’s update is here.

MLB has compiled a list of 5 questions (and answers) that will impact Game 7. Check ’em out.

The Astros’ season is replete with heros. George Springer. Jose Altuve. Carlos Correa. Dallas Keuchel. Justin Verlander. Gotta love what Marwin Gonzalez, Brian McCann, Yuli Gurriel and that Alex Bregman guy have done though.

Regardless of the outcome tonight (or tomorrow morning), the off-season starts on Thursday. Houston will face a different set of questions then, but you can know that many of those questions will be carry-overs from the pit stops, detours and deficiencies that have been discovered — or at least exposed and exploited — during the playoffs and World Series.

But tonight’s the night! An explosive and incredible season ends tonight

You may never walk this way again, so enoy the game. Sound off often! Geaux Streauxs!

  1. Thanks for all the hard work running down the links Chip. I will check them out later.
I’m nervous and I’m lifting nothing but my remote – I can’t imagine what a game 7 feels like to a participant. Not that we have particularly emotional guys – haha

  2. I’m going to sit back and try and enjoy with my family. If you told me in April we are in game 7 of The WS, I would have said pinch me. This I a great group. I hope they win obviously, however I don’t look at like it’s this year or bust. We loose Beltran’s 16 Mill, Gregerson, a few others by our choice, we will still have a hell of team in 2018 when we add a couple better pieces. GO LMJ GO stros. Proud as heck of this group of diverse quality young men.

  3. Kevin, yes the entire team will be back, other than our $16 million dollar babysitter! I won’t miss Gregersen, Fires, Liriano, Maybin, ….am I forgetting anyone? The bullpen and a bonified slugging DH will be on top of Luhnow’s list over the winter. I’m not nervous this evening, I spent the better part of yesterday a wreck! I’ve just prayed that they play their best clean game ever!
If the guys do that, and they still lose I will be ok with it. What troubles me is since this IS *THE* last game to play this year, is the bullpen. Starter or reliever……I don’t trust any of them today! You can bet your life Kershaw WILL be pitching in this game…..take that to the bank.
Play your best fellas, and leave it all on the field. GO ‘STROS!!

  4. Before this season I would’ve seen satisfied with making it to the ALCS. Now that we’re actually at this point, I WANT TO WIN THIS THING. Honestly, losing at this point will hurt bad, real bad. Even though it has been my dream to live in Colorado since I was 9, I still feel the sting from the national sports media treating houston like a joke in all sports. Even when the Rockets won there was the excuse some made that it was only because Michael Jordan wasn’t playing. No, if we win, there’s no excuse, no denying we were the best team in baseball. I want this badly.

    • If we jump to the lead, then when does Roberts spend Kershaw? And of course LMJ — he’s gotta perform. Reddick is still being run out there. Not much press about Peacock, but he’s ready and important. No Giles? Really? And Verlander and Liriano for one batter each? Does Maybin steal a win for us late?

This is going to be fun to behold.

  5. Very pleased with the early runs and the very solid at bats against Darvish. Win or Lose tonight I am very thankful for finding this blog back in the Chron days. You guys have been voices of reason during the rebuild. I hope for several championships from this team and many more years from Chipalatta.

  6. Morrow pitching? Is Dusty Baker managing the Cubs? Man, Morrow’s gonna end up needing Tommy John the way he’s been used.

Key to success (besides not giving up 6 or more runs)…remain patient every at bat, run up pitch count. Their bullpen is getting tired. If we can keep a 5 run lead til the 6th or 7th (a tall order!) we will win

  7. Taylor lines into a DP. 5-0, Astros. My son says ” Dad, it’s only two innings” I know that, but it’s a good two innings.

    Springer incredible.

Lance was shocked to be pulled here. I have mixed emotions.
