It’s Game 1 of the 2017 World Series! Sports Illustrated predicted the Astros would be here before A.J. Hinch, before Carlos Correa, before Alex Bregman, before Justin Verlander and before most people knew who Jeff Luhnow was!
Now, the Astros are on the national stage in the biggest baseball series of the season.

And, if you’re wondering who that National Anthem singer is, his name is Keith Williams Jr., a gospel singer with quite the range.

Rah roh Dallas!

Wow! First pitch homer… Could it start out any worse?

Dallas just needs to settle down and try not to over pitch. Just relax and play like you played to get here.

The announcers and coverage are annoying me. So does Kershaw’s windup.
Honestly Chip, I’m not a fan of the design. It’s distracting.

I want Reddick to homer to shut these people up.

So far the Astros look intimidated, like they were in New York. That’s a bad omen.
Springer hasn’t hit jack in quite a while.

Billy, how do they get Georgie to shorten that swing? Gomez is gone isn’t he

Kershaw looks every bit as good as he’s ever been. Springer continues to look overmatched at the plate. Granted Kershaw is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history.

They are hitting Keuchel hard, like real hard.

Been fortunate he’s gotten 2 double plays.

If not for the double plays, this would be a blow out. Come on bats!

Yeah, they’re hitting him hard, Billy. But I’ll tell you one thing I like about this team and that’s the defense! Altuve, Correa, Bregman…love watching them with the glove.

How do we make adjustments against Kershaw?

This is great – having a live blog – and the ump calls Correa out on a ball that he won’t give Keuchel

I checked that at bat Dan, was like watching a deer in headlights

Some of these strikes look a bit iffy. Just sayin’

The Dodgers complained so they gave them an undeserved strike out.

Thought the pitches to Altuve were: One ball was called a strike, and one strike was called a ball. He was struck out on a pitch that was called a ball on the prior pitches. Very inconsistent. Roberts was on the steps ready to get thrown out it appeared due to inconsistent calls.

The strike zone is MUCH wider than the ALCS…Astros are going to have to adjust…AND…Kershaw/Dodgers are taking a page out of the Astros’ playbook. How many curve balls have the Astros seen?
LikeLike
I noticed that too Chip – Kershaw cranking Uncle Charlie

We just need to have a consistent strike zone from Phil Cuzzi. Give Kershaw and Keuchel the same strike.
LikeLike
The reason why the strike zone is “inconsistent” is Cuzzi is following orders from “above”. The fix is in; we’re just going to have to overcome it.

DK got the same Altuve low strike, make up call?

What is consistent in Buck and Schmoltz man crush has went from the Yankees to the Dodgers

Of course…no way they want the highest payroll team to lose, and neither does MLB.

We’ll do announcements on this blog then since our Astros won’t get any love on live tv, lol

Buck and Smoltz will say nice things about us – when we are popping champagne – I’m liking how Keuchel has settled down

Wondering how long it will be before an Astro is tossed for arguing balls and strikes? Cuzzi is already getting some “words” from various hitters.

In the box Josh, smack a few hits and the complaining will go away

Well he hit one first AB – but apparently the zone is wider for Kershaw

Loving Bregman’s glove and bat tonight!

I like Reddick, but that attempted hotshot catch a few innings ago kind of rubbed me the wrong way

After 5, 1-1 tie. Keuchel 54 pitches, Kershaw 57. If it wasn’t for 103*, they both could go awhile.

Do you dare consider making a move with the leadoff spot in Game 2? If so, it’s a domino effect, so who do you move?

3-1 after 6. It’s been a shame that the Astros haven’t shown their hitting in the playoffs. Hinch may have to shake things up tomorrow.

Bregman leadoff, Altuve, Correa, Gurriel, put Springer back around 7

Chip, in gm 7 of ALCS GS smashed a solid base hit that the announcer mentioned how he shortened his swing. It was a solid hit. How does Hinch convince him to make adj by not trying to crush every pitch. Announcers tonite called him out ‘Wild swinging’ GS is a much better hitter than what we are seeing thus far. When he’s not grooving it’s hard to watch thinking he could help himself by slowing down & showing better plate discipline

I had to go pick up my son at night school – listening to Ford and Sparks – nice to listen to non-smug non-anti Astros announcing

Wish DK would have just focused on getting Turner out rather than lobbing the ball to 1st base a couple of times. Have we said it lately that Kershaw looks locked in?

Is there anyone else who believes that we can hit their relievers? We were able to get to a few of the Yankee relievers weren’t we? Just wanted someone else’s opinion.

I think we have a better chance than against Kershaw

I believe I heard the Stros hit high velocity pitching better than any tm out there. The first half the tm did just that, more of a struggle 2nd half and post season though. If this tm hit like they did the first half this series would be over in 4 or 5 I honestly believe

All they have to do is string 3-4 hits and there back on it. Time to movespringer down. He has forgotten how to hit.

The walk killed keuchel as he lost focus and there you have the inevitable result. They should take batting practice against McCullers so they ca learn to hit a curve ball.

This has been a flat , lifeless game. No spark at all. I think once they got the 4th or 5th strikeout, they started pressing.
